Petite Ballade
Yakymenko, Fedir [Якименко, Федір; Jakymenko, also Akymenko], b 20 September 1876 in Pisky, outside Kharkiv, d 8 January 1945 in Paris. Composer, pianist, and teacher; brother of Yakiv Stepovy. At 10 years of age he was sent to Saint Petersburg, where he sang in the court kapelle; he studied piano with M. Balakirev (1886–95) and graduated (1900) from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory in the composition class of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and A. Liadov.
